A2 gain planning permission for two new terraced mews houses in Rathmines, Dublin. The two 4.5metre wide houses are to be constructed of stepping brick facades to both the front and rear. Window and door openings are kept bold and simple. Roof terraces are provided on at roof level to both front and rear.
A2 are commissioned by The Office of Public Works to design a new campus building comprising ten classrooms for the Garda Síochána College in Templemore, Co. Tipperary. The college is a modern university campus located at McCan Barracks and is the national centre for police training, development and education within the Irish State.
A three-storey terraced townhouse is carefully refurbished and extended in Bridge Street, Clifden, Co. Galway. A board-marked in situ concrete beam to the rear enables a new kitchen and dining space to overlook Clifden’s Fairground and gain views of distant mountains beyond
A2 are delighted to collaborate again with Oonagh Young Gallery on a ‘pinwheel scaffold’ exhibition installation for artworks by artists Fiona Mulholland and John Rainey. Fitzpatrick & Henry are fabricating the scaffold made from 100x100mm red deal sections that are dovetail-jointed to one another. The exhibition opens December 10th and is funded by ID2015
Construction work begins on a new house at Sky Road, Clifden, Co. Galway. Arriving at a sheltered courtyard made between plastered utility and bedroom wings an in situ concrete beam spanning 20metres offers views through the kitchen/living/dining spaces to The Atlantic Ocean beyond.
New Horizon_Architecture from Ireland by A2, GKMP and Ryan Kennihan opens at Chicago Design Museum as ID2015’s contribution to the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial which runs from October 2nd ’15 until February 1st ’16.

A2 are invited to refurbish Arbour Hill Boxing Club in Stoneybatter, Dublin. The suspended ceiling over the boxing hall has been taken down to reveal a series of stunning queen roof trusses and sheeted timber roof substrate all of which will be painted white. Existing toilets, showers and changing rooms are also fully refurbished.
A new detached single family house is proposed for an existing plot of a single storey prefabricated 60’s timber house in The Burnaby Estate, Greystones, Co. Wicklow. The proposed house retains the scale of the existing house immediately north while responding freely to the tree-lined meandering site boundary to the south with a series of timber pavilions.
A new public service card centre for The Office of Public Works is proposed at existing government buildings in Tipperary Town.
